What customers say?

“ Food's great, but drinks are way overpriced (almost 5£ for a tiny chai latte ). ”

“ Have been here for breakfast on a couple of occasions now and it's always absolutely delicious. Lots of great choices of food and drinks, service is quick and a lovely outdoor seating area ”

“ I was in town a few days ago with some family members from overseas. On our route from the Seafront to the Pavilions and heading towards to the liveliness of The Lanes, we were looking for a sit down and a bite to eat and found the perfect spot en route… North Laine Café. The café was airy and light with a relaxed vibe, the menu was varied but not overwhelming and the staff couldn’t have been kinder to us. One of our party is a particularly fussy eater and the member of staff who looked after us was very knowledgeable about ingredients etc which reassured my relative no end. The café was very clean and the staff worked hard to keep it that way, making sure tables were turned around promptly which I often find a rarity these days. We had really great experience and definitely a cut above the experience you can have in chain-restaurant type cafes. ”

“ We had such a wonderful experience at North Lane Café! We ordered the Mexican rancheros, pancakes, and salmon sourdough – all of which were absolutely delicious. The pancakes were soft and fluffy, while the rancheros were perfectly crispy and full of flavour. A special mention goes to Mei, our server, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Her friendly and attentive service really made our visit extra special. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to go back! ”

“ Went in for a coffee and a cake. Not disappointed! Very relaxed atmosphere. Approachable and friendly staff. Americano full of flavour and no fuss. Raspberry cake was…. Raspberry cake, what’s not to like. Simple. Tasty. ”

“ I ordered the wrong thing, though the Italian sandwich was very good the chap next to me had the Benedictos. I wish I'd ordered that. Also the beans on toast isn't what you're expecting if you're thinking Heinz, what you get is cumin inspired beans, nice for me but not for my partner. Coffee exceptional! Also they don't allow 'swaps' on their breakfast which genuinely slightly soured the mood of an otherwise outstanding cafe. ”

“ I'm a planner. Wherever I go, I usually have a spreadsheet of carefully researched places to eat and drink on trips, so we're not left disappointed. So it was an unexpected delight to stumble upon this cafe, entirely by chance. We were so impressed with our first visit, we visited again, the next day on our short two day trip. Firstly, the menu is huge. We literally wanted to try everything. Every dish has something unique about it that has clearly been thought through. The food was stunning. Perfect. We had lunch one day (mushrooms on toast), and breakfast the next (pancakes and full English) and both were as good as each other. I don't say this lightly, when I say, they make the best hash browns I've ever had. I've tried making hash browns through my love for them and I've left feeling jealous at how they got these so perfect. Delicious drinks - coffees, juices and smoothies all made fresh. Unlike most cafes - they didn't do my pet hate and fill the glass with ice, which waters down the juice - winner! The service was attentive, friendly and speedy (on both visits). We are going to be telling everyone about this absolute gem and will visit as soon as we're back in Brighton. ”

“ Found this lovely place in Brighton during my stay, called North Laine Café. Instantly became my fave! It's a cozy place close to the train station. Loved the colours, warm beige, black and yellows everywhere. The atmosphere and the staff made me go there several times! Speaking of staff, Alice and Freya kindly served me, and honestly they are the loveliest people ever! Helpful, friendly, amazing both of them! I can wholeheartedly vouch for them. Can't wait to go back there next year. Thanks a lot for the experience. ”
